Masked Embossing

Hello folks, today I'm going to show you one of my favourite techniques - Masked Embossing. Embossing texture by hand can take more time than using a cuttlebug or similar, but it's much more versatile.

Tools Used:
  • Project or Cardstock for putting the texture on (I cut a box using the Fiskars Box 1 template and cutting tool)
  • Fiskars Texture Tool
  • Fiskars Texture Plate (I used the Leaves one)
  • A Mask cut from scrap card of the shape required
  • Low-tack tape (If you don't have any then stick some standard tape to your jeans and then after peeling it off it's low tack)

Place your project/card-stock face-down on the texture plate.
Using low-tack tape fix the card-stock in place so it doesn't move about during the embossing process.
Attach the card-stock mask in place on top of your project with low-tack tape.

Using your texture tool emboss around the masked area. It's OK to go over the edges as the mask will prevent the area being embossed.

Remove the project from the texture place.
Turn the project over.
Place it on top of some scrap paper.
Reattach the mask to the top of the project where the un-embossed area is using the same low-tack tape.
Ink up the embossed area using your preferred inking tools.
Remove the mask.

Now you project is ready for the fishing touches.

Have fun, and I'd love to see what you create. Blessings to you all from Angela.
